My CISV Journey
Some of my friends and fellow CISVers say I'm a bit too obsessed with CISV but I don't believe there is such thing as a CISV Obsession... There is CISV love and passion, then more love and more passion etc... :D
I'm what you can call - as noted by our great IJR Marcos - A JB GEEK!!! :D
- Sometime in the year 2000: The Discovery:
Thanks to my Art teacher in elementary school who told me about CISV I made this big discovery of this thing they call CISV and went to a village in Belgium, which was the best experience of my life until 2007.
- 6 Years Later: The Return:
After my village I unfortunately lost touch with CISV until after the 2006 Israeli War on Lebanon where I joined the new forming JB and became a very active member throughout the 2006-2007 year.
- April 2007: The First Real JB Experience:
I participated in the Taba Workshop 2007, the WS-myth that was talked about for years and finally got to be between JB Jordan, JB Egypt and JB Lebanon.
- July 2007: The Cherry On Top:
My Rubberduck Seminar Camp in Portugal was the best CISV experience ever and 3 weeks of my life!!!
- February 2007 and still... Acquiring Leadership:
I became the current Junior NJR of JB Lebanon and worked hard on getting the JB back on its right track after the few set-backs that we suffered
- April 2008: The Dream:
The International JB Weekend - Lebanon 2008 helped me and the JB to straighten everything out and start to rise up again with a good understanding of what do we need to do to become a strong active JB. We also set a few cooperative projects between all the attending JBs (JB Sweden, JB Jordan, JB Egypt, JB Lebanon and our IJR Marcos :D) that can be found here
- August 2008: In Reflecting And Acting Spirit:
CAN'T WAIT!!! MY FIRST EVER IJBC!!! 9 DAYS TO GO!!!
Random facts about my life...
- Just turned 19 and am starting to believe the joke everyone keep saying that I'm getting tooooo olllllldddddd!!!!!
- After one year of pain, agony, negative subjective sh*t of Architecture, I have decided to go into Civil Engineering where I can actually have my life back again and live a little bit (MORE TIME FOR CISV TOO!!! YEY! :D)
- Sports is an addiction of mine - basketball and volleyball and soccer - but I enjoy playing any sport or watching it *except snookers or darts that I do not consider to be a sport*
- My biggest passion in life is acting, and high school was a great place to stage my talent - but university is a different setup - no more time to do what I love the most!
- I play and compose on the guitar, well yeah, I'm in CISV, I mean it's going to become a requirement soon enough from everyone :P - oh and my guitar, if you dare harm HER, you're dead!!!
- It is confirmed - I suffer from CISV workaholicness and CISV inability to say no to anything that is CISV exciting!
My favorites...
*Books: Tell No One - Harlan Coben, Gone For Good - Harlan Coben
*Music: Currently, I'm obsessed with Amy Macdonald. But generally, The Beatles, old good rock and some new rock, latin and pretty much everything weird and nice from all over the world. Plus any acoustic song with a great guitar!!!

3 more weeks to go...
Funny Fact: Out of the excitement of just wanting IJBC to be here and being in Florence, I lost all sense of time and dates and told all my teachers I'm traveling this Thursday (while I'm traveling in a week and 2 days) and asked them to give me the work of this week early on, but then realized IJBC is one more week away and had to go back and explain that to my teachers :p
Thank God I realized it early before I start packing 12 days before IJBC :P
4 more weeks to go...
(Just so you know, questions 1,3,5 almost killed me - you can never offer me an open-ended choice... I get too lost in the endless options... Yet I tried to make a choice as much as I could - and as hard as that was for me :P)
Reflect
- If you were in a karaoke, and had to pick a song that describes your JB - which one would it be?
a) The Reason - Hoobastank: maybe because the JB is a totally different person now from what it used to be and we found the reason to change who we used to be, and it's the JB goals :D
b) Eye Of The Tiger - Survivor: Maybe because it relates to getting back on our feet and challenging the status quo of our country's political situation by rising up to the challenges and trying to be the best, the eye of the tiger!
- What things you do to make sure your JB keeps improving?
I keep them updated on everything happening in IJB and always try to motivate and push them to come up with ideas, activities, lead, act...
- If your JB was a boat, who would be the captain? And why is that? a.) Jack Sparrow b.) Captain Hook c.) the one from titanic (not Celine Dion) d.) none of the above, loser.
Jack Sparrow - He's cool and unconventional. Me like cool unconventional non-captain like captains who are good at leading without looking like a leader. Plus I love Johnny Depp yet really hate Pirates of the Caribbeans,
Act
- Which was the last revolution your JB has seen?
The International JB Workshop in Lebanon in April - It was our stepping stone from a narrow old wrong definition of the JB into the new cool prospering IJB world.
- Which movie you think would push your JB forward?
Right now I'd say the Peace One Day movie - It's the perfect movie to give the JB the knowledge and ability to reflect more about POD and start acting towards doing something big on POD this year as part of the post-WS revolution :D
- If your JB would pick a cause to protest about, which would it be?
Ending the political tension in the country that is controlling our every day's life and our JB plans and isn't allowing us much freedom to spread our wings.
5 more weeks to go...
- If you could be anyone in the world for one day, who would it be? The person with the largest ability of change in this world – whoever that person is… Yet I might settle for David Beckham… I always wanted to know what would it would feel to be him :P

There are too many… ok let me try to list them: Captain Planet, GARGOYLES, Les Chevaliers Du Zodiaque, Where On Earth Is Carmen Sandiego and Captain Majed (Japanese Soccer Cartoon that you probably know in your own language under the name of "Captain ****")
- What did you collect as a kid? My favorite book series, pictures of my favorite sport figures from newspapers and magazines, coins
- What language would you like to speak? Portuguese, Hungarian, Swedish

- You probably had (or have) a teddy bear/doll. Tell us the name: I never named him… poor thing :P
- Did you have an imaginary friend? No
- What was your most pathetic role at a school play? I would say the Christmas tree or Santa Clause but nothing beats the nerdy lonely really fashionably baaaaaaaad (i.e. real fashion suicide) guy who has no friends at all and no one likes him and is too much of a coward and too weak and naive until the day he meets his best friend in life: a dog :D – YEAH…a dog :P a really cute girl playing the role of a dog :P
- What do you have to say about your toenails? Pretty normal until we get to the big toe…
- What is the thing you're always missing, even if you've had it just 5 minutes ago? An idea
