Little bit about Rou
- My friends call me Rou, and that nickname came because people used to mispronounce my name because it is not very common
- I currently live in Cairo, which is also where I grew up. I love Cairo, but I love even more the breaks I take from it.
- I studied journalism and I graduated in June 2009, Since then I have had random jobs including Public Relations team member at a Gym and being an English teacher.
- I work as a freelance writer with some magazines in Cairo, and am looking for some freelance writing gigs abroad as well. I'm also looking for a job in a newspaper or newsagency. Know anyone hiring?
- Some random facts about me include:
- I don't like ketchup and chewing gum
- I don't believe in fruity ice cream
- I accidentally said "Sex" when presenting my Graduation Project (Meant to say section)
- I'm terribly afraid of heights
- I have a doll that I like to cuddle to when I fall asleep and I've had him since I was 3. His name is Little Honey.
- I appreciate garlic in food
- I loved Sex and City they show but was disappointed with the movie (and yet I still want to see Sex and the City 2)
- I have a crush on Barney from How I met your mother
- My friends (guys friends I might add) and I put up our pictures on Hot or Not and I got rated as a 6.1 out of 10 and blamed the bad picture. In case you are wondering they got 7s and 8s.
- I love scarves and own 58 (and counting..)
- I am addicted to buying and wearing earrings, and when I leave my place without having earrings on it ruins my mood
- I love the beach and the feeling of digging my toes and fingers into the sand
- I have always hated mushrooms, but this year for some reason I started to really like them
- I have an addiction to Scrubs (the show) and have developed a crush on Dr. Cox. My new show addiction is True Blood. Which I am very ashamed of.
- My favourite time of the day is one hour before sunset when everything is yellow. Incidentally "Yellow" also happens to be my favourite Coldplay song.
- I was very flattered to have been referred to as Alanis Morissette on the IJBC 2009 page.
- I share food. But not the last bite of anything. That is sacred.
- I am so excited about staffing the Egyptian IPP next winter. It's an amazing staff group and a brilliant project. I had written an article about the last one but unfortunately my magazine doesn't publish online. But you can read an even better article written by my good friend Heba El-Sherif, who was staff in the last IPP we hosted, right here http://www.dailystaregypt.com/article.aspx?ArticleID=19283
