About Us
JB USA
JB USA is made up of 22 Junior Branches. A full list of chapters can be found at the bottom of the page. Each JB President sits on the National Junior Board of Trustees, which is the decision-making body for JB USA. Each chapter holds meetings, plans activities, and fundraises.
Every JB is a member of a larger geographic region. There are five regions: JB West, JB West-Midwest, JB East-Midwest, JB Southern Region, and JB Northeast. Originally conceived as a way to share ideas and make liaising easier for the NYC (National Youth Committee), regions have begun to cooperate in activity planning and hosting regional minicamps geared toward that region, but open to all.
The National Junior Board of Trustees (NJBoT) is composed of the Junior Branch presidents of CISV USA. Any motions or other special items must be passed by this body. They meet twice a year, once in the spring for leadership training and once in October for the US National Board Meeting. For more information, contact Adrienne Divertie at CYT@us.cisv.org.
JB USA Structure
- Below are a series of videos made by youth trustees Thomas Bryenton and Ben Blackshear explaining some of the main positions in JB USA.
- We created these videos because we felt that it was important for a greater number of JBers to be aware of the structure of their organization.
- In the next section you'll find general information / tips / some common myths, and in the videos you'll find specifics about each role.
- Wanna know more? Below are the corresponding email addresses for each different position:
- EYT: eyt@us.cisv.org
- CYT-E: cyte@us.cisv.org, or cyt@us.cisv.org (2 different people)
- NYC: cyte@us.cisv.org, or cyt@us.cisv.org
- NYMC: nymc.chair@us.cisv.org
- NJBOT / JB President: your local JB President. If you don't know who that is, email cyte@us.cisv.org
- JB member: same as above.
- Positions here are elected or selected at the National Board Meeting (NBM) in the fall.
- JB Presidents / member of NJBOT are elected in their chapters every year.
- There are no qualifications for being a JB member.
- To be selected for NYC or NYMC, you don't need to already be friends with the youth trustees.
- It is strongly recommended that all applications for any position in CISV be free of grammatical and spelling errors.
- Most applications need to be typed. For NYC & NYMC, we prefer that applications be typed, but hand-written applications are acceptable as well.
- There is an equally rich array of cool opportunities for adults in addition to the youth positions discussed here. (JBers -- no sweat, CISV is still awesome after you're not a kid.) But that is best explained elsewhere.
