Upcoming Events

  • JB Farewell Picnic - Saturday, June 21st, 12-3 pm
    • Our final event of the year is going to be on Saturday, June 21st from 12-3pm. We will have a farewell picnic for all our JBers who are travelling this summer. It will be at Curtis Arboretum (1250 Church Road/ Rt. 73, Wyncote) and anyone is welcome. Bring your families! And if you are travelling this summer, please encourage your delgation to come, since this event is for them! The picnic potluck system will be as follows: A-M last name = entree/salad, N-Z last name = dessert/drink. Additionally, we will be tie-dying tee-shirts at the park. Our new JB shirts will be available for purchase (10 dollars each), but feel free to bring a diffeerent white shirt to dye. Also, if you want, you can bring a frisbee or baseball or whatever to play with. This should be a really fun and relaxing event. We are looking forward to ending the year on a positive note, so if we could get a huge turnout, that would be great!

Treasury/Fundraising

  • goodsearch.com and goodshop-please continue to search the internet with goodsearch.com and make sure to select CISV Philly JB as your charity. You can also shop at many popular stores online through goodsearch.com and part of your purchase will then be donated to JB Philly! This is an easy way for us to raise money for scholarships!
  • Save your ink cartridges, toner cartridges and old cell phones!! They are being collected to not only recycle and help the earth, but to raise some money for scholarships! Please contact Pam Haldeman ( pamelaj1330@aol.com) for any more information!
  • Wawa Coupons are still available! They are $3.50 a piece and are good for one shorty hoagie. These save people about $0.20 and raise $1 for CISV! Allison is placing the next order soon so be sure to add your name to the list (which will be sent out soon) if you want to get in on this bunch!
  • T-shirts are available for purchase at $10 each and help with our fundraising efforts.
  • The JB Treasury received a huge donation of $984.78 from Willow Grove Park!! Coins thrown into its fountain were collected and counted. Cyd Chmielewski

Meet Cyd Chmielewski. Cyd is 19 years old and a freshman at Arcadia University; she spent her first semester studying abroad at the University of Stirling in Scotland. She has been involved in CISV since 2001, going to monthly Philly JB meetings with her brother Joey (current JB Co-President) and her parents who served as Co-Presidents in 2005-2006. Cyd attended summer camp in Dalls, Texas in 2006 and had a blast! She additionally has been part of family hostings for Interchange and Village. She was an active JBer all throughout high school, attending almost every function and as many mini-camps and national youth meetings as possible. This year Cyd was part of the January JB ice skating outing and did a fabulous job helping lead the CISV activities at the Lock-In. The 2008 summer Interchange to Spain is lucky to have Cyd as the Junior Leader. Cyd has tons of CISV experience and enthusiasm!!!!! Cyd loves to show her CISV spirit by wearing one of her many CISV tee shirts or CISV beaded jewelry necklaces and bracelets she enjoys making in her free time. She has some of her CISV creations on display in the photo. If you would like to have her make you some to use for trading items for Village or another summer program, to send to CISV friends, or just to wear yourself, contact her at thefrogbubble@yahoo.com and she will make some of these cool items for you (just $2.00 each).
