January Update from the NJRs

Hey CISVers from across this cold land of ours!! We hope that you've all had a fantastic new year so far, because we have and we want to tell you about what the CISV JB Canada Exec has been up to.

1. NJRs at the Mid-Winter Meeting 2. Spring Board Training Forum Announced 3. Canuck/Communications 4. Junior Branch Development Committee

If you have any questions or concern, just give us a holler at njr@ca.cisv.org!

Hugs and love, Keenan and Brittany CISV Canada NJRs 2009-2010

______________________________________________________

1. Brittany and I spent the weekend of Jan 22-24. It's been a really productive meeting and we had a lot of fun playing RockBand and FarmVille! (Brittany rocked both with her cane, due to a recent brush with appendicitis :( and Keenan proved she had both a wicked set of pipes and pro drumming skillz. Keenan also ate a gratuitous amount of croissants.

We created some cool graphs and diagrams that helped us to talk about setting goals for CISV Canada. We came up with some pretty cool strategic plans and we look forward to getting feedback from the rest of the board at SBM. Brittany and Keenan will be working to make sure that the strategic plan for CISV Canada has a lot of Junior Branch application.

2. Spring Board Training Forum has been announced for May 21st to 24th. We're getting really excited with the planning of it and we want to see at least 1 person from each chapter!

What is Spring Board Training Forum (SBTF) you ask? Let us tell you!

SBTF is a training workshop put together and run by the National JB Executive. The main goal for SBTF is to train up and coming junior leaders in each of your chapters. Now in it's 5th year, the SBTF has proven to be a very beneficial training forum for Junior Branches across Canada!

We'd like to invite each chapter to select up to 3 juniors to attend this year. When selecting participants, please keep in mind that they should be participants who have not yet attended a SBTF, juniors who are planning to be involved with their boards in the future and who are interested in the success of their junior branches. By sending the right participants you can ensure that your junior branches have the best tools and training for their development.

Please find the registration package attached.

3.Canuck time! The english version of the Canuck, our JB newsletter, has now been posted in the resources section of the CISV Canada website. It's an awesome way of finding out what is going on with Juniors across the country. Forward it to your members, print it out and bring it to your meetings and activities. It's a great way to get new ideas for your chapter. The french version will be posted soon.

If you're interested in speeding up the process of publication of the french version in the future, please get in touch with the NJRs or our famous CommSquad to help with translation.

4. Junior Branch Development Committee opportunity! If you have some ideas to spice up the Junior Branch, would like to learn more about the Junior Branch or would like to work on a team to work on projects to help the JBs then now is your chance! There are still positions open on the Junior Branch Development Committee. To learn more or to get the application package just send us an e-mail.

If you have any questions or concern, just give us a holler at njr@ca.cisv.org!

Hugs and love, Keenan and Brittany CISV Canada NJRs 2009-2010
