What we're up to right now

Right now:

... we are in the process of structuring the IJB team and figuring out communication and cooperation schemes for our work in the next year,
... we're communicating with the IJB Team and actively supporting each group and projects,
... we're very happy to see all the different initiatives and events planned in support of the theme, Sustainable Development,
... we're working closely with the different departments in CISV to coordinate IJB's involvement and integration with the organisation for the coming year,
... we're working closely with our IEC liaison Laura Green (who we love) and our IO liaison Denise (who we also love) on various ideas and projects, so stay tuned,
... we're hoping to hear from you! Our email is ijr@cisv.org.

Things we do

Basically, the IJRs:

  • Facilitate the IJB Team - a group of enthusiastic and dedicated JBers working to develop JB around the world. They usually work on specific tasks within three areas, Development, Communications and Projects, but IJRs make sure everyone's working on their stuff, helps everyone communicate and also facilitates things that concern the whole team. Without this team, the IJRs would not be able to maintain and support all the projects, ideas and work in IJB each year.
  • Are part of the Expanded Executive Committee who are all the committee chairs of CISV International. Within CISV International, the IJB Team are known as the IJB Committee and the IJRs act as the chairs. In this way, we also communicate a lot with the IEC through Laura Green, our liaison, and the IO through Denise, the communications officer.
  • Sit on the Board of Trustees each year at AIM, where the IJRs have one vote each when it comes to making decisions for CISV. The IJRs represent the views of juniors around the world, and are different from other committees as they do not vote. IJRs don't just vote however, they consult other juniors engaged with the motions and discussions, and make sure the views and arguments of juniors are put forward in all discussions.
  • Organise, plan and run IJBC, usually setting goals and planning the outline, and planning content and facilitating it alongside the IJR Candidates and members of the IJB Team.
  • Engage with JB World by attending the regional meetings (JASPARC, EJBM and ARMM), meeting the JBers from all over who are actually the ones carrying out the great work in their communities, at the grassroots level, that makes JBs achieve our goals.
  • Edit IJB Thinks - You can always email us articles and feedback about the themes and issues at ijbthinks@ijb.cisv.org
  • Meet regularly with each other, either online through skype or where possible in a physical meeting. IJRs have a Mid-Way Meeting in person, where they meet halfway through the year to evaluate the year so far, work on ongoing projects and issues, make decisions and plan for the remaining year in IJB.
  • Receive emails, and discuss ongoing projects, tasks and upcoming events and issues. We love to brainstorm and exchange ideas, but we'd love for you to contact us and tell us about your ideas, and enrich the work we do, so get in touch, our email is ijr@cisv.org.

What does an average week look like?

  • Monday
    • Get email from Denise, our IO liaison, to discuss website and other ideas. Schedule Skype meeting for Friday
    • James emails Content Group to remind them of deadline to complete a task.
    • Whatsapp each other what we're having for lunch.
  • Tuesday
    • James has classes but Mateo is free to join the EJB Team for their meeting about integrating IJB into EJBM
    • James sees something cool about Peace Day on facebook so shares it on the IJR page.
  • Wednesday
    • Get an email from Laura, our IEC liaison, to the whole EEC with some questions about AIM. Mateo and James exchange a quick set of emails then reply to the group.
    • James works on an individual project, like updating some resources or editing IJB Thinks
    • Mateo emails the Updates group to check the progress of the latest Monthly Update
  • Thursday
    • Not much happens, the APJB Team are discussing some workshop but no input is required from the IJRs.
  • Friday
    • Get an email from Tamara from EVR about our upcoming IJB evaluation. Forward email to Evaluation group for their opinions.
    • 1pm (GB)/2pm (NL) Skype with Denise. We have a great catch up, Denise outlines some tasks related to the website, and also discusses the IJR Candidates process with us.
    • The IJRs also take this opportunity to catch up between the two of them. Mateo tells James what the EJB Team are up to, and they plan who will go to which regional meeting. James tells Mateo how the individual projects are going and together they update a 'To-Do' list of what needs to happen next.
    • Mateo drafts an email to Websites group about all the updates they've just got from Denise.
  • Saturday
    • Both IJRs are busy studying and nothing happens.
  • Sunday
    • Get an email from the IJBC homestaff with some questions and requests. A quick whatsapp back and forth later, James drafts a reply with both his and Mateo's opinions.
    • James works more on IJB Thinks, then sends it over to Mateo to check over.
    • Mateo replies to an older email from the Educational Department proposing a project cooperating with an LMO on the theme of sustainable development.
