About ARM

http://www.ijb.cisv.org/mwiki/images/6/60/Armbarra.jpg

America's Regional Members (ARM) refers to the community of the 13 National Junior Branches within the Americas. The ARM community is coordinated by a group of four people called ARM Team. Every year, ARM meets at the America's Regional Members Meeting (ARMM). The region is divided in four Nuclei of Developments, they are: JB North, CAM, JB Andinos and JB South.

To learn about the essence and the purpose of regions, please take a look at the IJB Guidelines on Regional Cooperation (IGoRC). To learn about other regions, click here.

According to the IJB Guidelines on Regional Cooperation (IGoRC), all Regions are open for any JB that wants to participate or become a member JB.

As for this year, the JBs part of the ARM Region are:

Leadership models should change when the needs and resources of the community demand that change. So, at ARMM 2007 in Colombia, we decided it was time to give a space for transformation and develop a fresh structure that furthers our goals. After brainstorms, facilitation, dialogues, debates and wrapping it up… ARM has a new, inclusive, transparent and cooperative leadership model: the ARM Team.

The ARM Team is a round-table leadership formed by four elected members. This group is in charge of taking an active leadership role towards the achievement of the regional goals.

During every ARMM, the NJRs vote for two new ARM Team members with a commitment of two years. Therefore, every time new people get elected, we still have two members in the team that have been working for one year. In this way, we assure the continuity of the work of ARM Team avoiding big transition gaps.

The ARM Team will be present at the leadership process in the Nuclei of Development, however, not creating another level on top of the Nuclei. The team will serve as a facilitation and support structure. In addition, this team will also lend a hand to taskforces, projects, working groups, etc. Also, it is their responsibility to plan and facilitate ARMM. Each ARM Team will decide the way in which they will work and will define their own roles and tasks. Nevertheless, each ARM Team has to publish a review of their work and has to inform the ARM community about their actions.

ARMM is the Americas Regional Members Meeting. It takes place around late July every year, right before the International Junior Branch Conference (IJBC). Usually, the host chapter for IJBC also hosts ARMM. There is a Content Staff formed by the ARM Team with the help of IJRs) and a Home Staff.

During ARMM, the National Junior Representatives (NJRs) from each ARM member JB and active Juniors from the region get together to receive training, create cooperation opportunities, work on JB Development strategies and learn about the JB World. The Content Staff is in charge of planning this meeting and facilitating all the sessions.

It is also during ARMM that the NJRs vote on two new members of ARM Team.

Past ARMMs

Check here the pages of the past ARMMs.

http://www.ijb.cisv.org/mwiki/images/8/83/Armbullet.jpg Nuclei of Development (NoDs)

The Nuclei of Developments (NoDs) are the protagonists of ARM’s strategy to grow, cooperate, develop, and communicate. These are based on JBs' willingness to cooperate and on a more inclusive policy, as it will be focused on JBers rather than NJRs.

The NoD network is dynamic, changeable, flexible, and is a matter of facilitation for JBs interaction and support. In this sense, the nuclei of development will follow the principles of IGoRC.

  • JB South - Argentina, Brazil and Chile.
  • JB Andinos - Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.
  • CAM - Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico.
  • JB North - Canada and USA.
